Game of Thrones Season 5 Red Carpet Premiere: Video and Pictures
The Game of Thrones Season 5 premiere was held last night at the Tower of London. The red carpet was filled with the stars you know and love, along with a few extra UK celebrity die hard fans of the show. On holding the premiere in such a famous venue, John Bradley put it best in the live stream: “This place really reminds you of the history we’re trying to capture with our show.”
The first reviews of the episode are up here and here. Meanwhile, we’ve got video of the red carpet interviews and pictures galore below. Check it out.
I usually like Sophie Turner’s developing style, but this frankendress was a miss.
Note that Michiel Huisman never says anything in interviews, lest he get replaced by Daario Phase III.
Mark Gatiss gave away in the live stream that he’s only in one episode this season. I suppose this is proof he’s not afraid of getting fired.
Liam Cunningham reminded everyone that 100 years ago, they’d come to the Tower to get their heads cut off. Nowadays we’re much more civilized and do it by the statue of Baelor.
Alfie Allen said he wants to see how far the show can push the darkness as a whole. I’m sure Iwan Rheon will oblige.
Trant may be a dislikable character, but Ian Beattie was the happiest guy on the carpet last night.
It was Charles Dance’s last GoT premiere. I’m sorry there was no video of him.
Aiden Gillan always seems so surprisingly gentle when he talks in real life.
Gwen Christie didn’t stop for interviews, but worked the red carpet.
Nikolaj Coster-Waldau admitted the intense secrecy of the show is getting to him….
Alfie Allen promised “shocking scenes without a doubt”.
That’s all the videos. Here’s more red carpet pictures.
Daniel Portman looks more comfortable in front of screaming fans than we ever see him, either with Tyrion, Bronn or Brienne.
Dean Charles Chapman said this season made him nervous. “I’ve never been married before!”
Hannah Murray was a knock out on the carpet, and had a sense of humor about the overwhelming crush of stars on the carpet.
Isaac Hempstead-Wright isn’t in Season 5 but he came anyway. He admitted he doesn’t actually know if he’s in Season 6 yet or not. He’s just hoping.
Jessica Henwick is banking her glitter time now, since from here on out we’ll be seeing her in Sand Snake warrior outfits.
John Bradley was reflective of the history of the Tower and the War of the Roses history behind the novels.
Jonathan Pryce said the more he learns about the show, the more impressed with it he becomes.
Kerry Ingram didn’t stop for interviews, but was all smiles for the cameras.
When asked to explain the popularity of the show, Kit Harington said, “It’s complex and it doesn’t treat audiences like idiots.”
Michael McElhatton probably gave us the closest thing to a spoiler all night: “There’s a lot of shocks particularly for the book readers. There are things that happen now that aren’t in the books.”
Nathalie Emmanuel didn’t stop for an interview with the live stream, but her jumpsuit was just smashing.
Youngest Sand Snake Rosabell-Laurenti-Sellers was also a knock out though she didn’t stop for interviews. (Also in the live stream she was wearing a coat, so you couldn’t see the dress.)
And last, but most certainly not least, Natalie Dormer didn’t walk the red carpet, but she slayed the after party. I love how her needle-like necklace echoes the one worn by Sansa Stark in her Dark Sansa outfit. Don’t you?
