Martin Blogs About Attending US Season 5 Premiere
As we reported last week, the second red carpet premiere for Game of Thrones Season 5 is tonight in San Francisco. It will be held at the War Memorial Opera House, with the red carpet portion being streamed live via Facebook from 6-7pm PST (That’s 9-10pm EST, or 1am for the UK, since they haven’t had daylight savings kick in yet.)
There’s a long list of who we expect to see tonight, but there was one name left off the press release: the esteemed creator of the series, writer George RR Martin. He took to his not-a-blog to talk about it. See what he had to say, and if he’ll be attending, below.

We don’t have to worry. Martin isn’t adding this event to the list of events that he’s skipping in order to finish the next installment of A Song of Ice and Fire. He’ll be there.
Off to San Francisco this afternoon for the premiere of GAME OF THRONES season five on Monday the 23rd, at the San Francisco Opera House. Should be a grand affair, though the LA and NYC premieres (for seasons three and four, respectively) will be hard to top. I look forward to seeing our old friends on the cast, and meeting some new ones.
We’ll look forward to seeing what he has to say on the live stream of the red carpet. Also, look out for the Instagram pics with Funko Pop characters. Not that Martin has a Funko figure, but maybe the photographers will make an exception and let him bring his talking plushie.
