Sesame Street Parodies Game of Thrones With Game of Chairs

Here at Winter Is Coming, we never lack for a new Game of Thrones parody to watch. And with Season 5 just a week away, the parodies and spoofs are pouring in at a furiously fast clip. This year, we’ve seen terribly bad parodies, like this UK political campaign ad called Game of Cuts, and spectacularly hilarious ones, like this George R. R. Martin spoof called Multiplicity 2: Game of Clones.

Enter Sesame Street, and their delightfully snarky Game of Thrones parody, Game of Chairs. Check it out.

“The Game of Chairs will determine who will be king or queen of Jesteros. Four players will march around three chairs while music plays until one remains. Who will take the crown in this game of musical chairs? Robb, Cersie, Joffrey, Daeneyrus[sic] or….?”

What makes this particular parody one of my personal favorites is the simplicity with which Sesame Street delves into famous Game of Thrones lines and characters. For instance, Grover’s name is Grover Bluejoy, which is an obvious nod to the Greyjoy name…there’s also a nice Melisandre cameo. “The monster is blue and full of errors.”

We’ve also got Ned Stark in charge of the whole game, while contestants consist of Daenerys, the Mommy of Dragons whose baby dragon is hot under the diaper; Joffrey, who lost because he “choked”‘ Cersei Lannister, who is going to tell her brother that Grover caused her to lose; and Robb Stark, who needs the game to hurry because he has a wedding to get to.

All in all, a rather fun video, aimed at children, but much appreciated by adults. What better way for kids to learn how to count, than with Game of Thrones? One chair, two chair…
