Game of Thrones Bros: Iwan Rheon (Ramsay) talks Alfie Allen (Theon) and their relationship outside the show

Iwan Rheon and Alfie Allen sure do have a polarizing yet painful on-screen relationship on Game of Thrones. Ramsay Snow/Bolton has been psychotically ruthless to Theon/Reek, with getting into Balon Greyjoy’s only remaining son’s head, turning him against the Ironborn, flaying him down to removing his manhood, and giving him a creepily soothing bath. Ramsay has full control over Reek.

However, when the two aren’t spending time, on Game of Thrones, deciding which body part Ramsay gets to flay from Reek, the two actors actually get along quite well, in real-life. US Weekly talked to Iwan Rheon, to get the skinny on their bromance.

“We hang out a lot together and we play a lot of pool together [chuckles], and obviously I win.”

I’m sorry, all I can imagine is Ramsay and Reek playing endless games pool, even though Reek wants to quit because he’s tired and hungry because he hasn’t anything to eat, since that fat juicy rat he had in his cell, like 3 days past. And Ramsay just threatening to throw Reek to his girls (dogs), with promises of shoving his pool stick somewhere Reek wouldn’t like very much. Iwan continued.

“The thing is that if you don’t have a good relationship outside the show, it’s hard to do the things we do in the arena of the show. Because we have to quite open to each other in those scenes, so I would think it would be quite horrible after a hard day’s torturing and not to have a nice chilled out relationship off. I’m quite a relaxed person.”

Can’t you just hear their conversation, after a long day of Iwan mutilating Alfie’s imaginary genitals, or Iwan lovingly bathing Alfie, while making underhanded threats? “Bro I’m sorry I waved that sausage in front of you, it was totes inappropriate and inconsiderate.” “No worries brah! You gotta do you son! I’m sorry I farted in the bathtub scene, fart bubbles are the worst.”

Iwan talked about how the torture wasn’t going to stop, in Season 5:

“It just get worse and worse, he doesn’t get an epiphany or anything.”

US Weekly went on to talk about how things are not going to be easy for Ramsay this season, which is something most people, including myself, would not expect. In fact, and I feel the need to say SPOILER ALERT here, Iwan recalls his favorite scene from Season 5, calling it Dinner with the Boltons and remarked that it really is quite horrible.

Interesting, the Boltons may be getting their comeuppance at a dinner? Oh the possibilities really are endless. Let’s see, we’ve got revenge, tasty pies, and maybe a certain ghost who isn’t a ghost of Winterfell floating around shanking guards and causing all sorts of mischief.

Iwan echos what we’ve heard showrunners D&D say already, about Season 5:

“This year you get to see so many parts of this world that have just been talked about before. And it’s nice for me, as a fan of the show, to get to see all of them. It’s an exciting new season, with lots going on and a lot of new characters. And then you see a lot of characters who wouldn’t expect to meet up. And yes, that happens.”

What happens, Iwan? Way to leave us hanging. Iwan Rheon is now emulating George R.R. Martin, with that cliffhanger. We’ve all seen “Dark Sansa” riding at the head of a column of House Arryn riders that enters the gates of Winterfell. Will Sansa have anything to do with bringing some much needed trouble to House Bolton, at a certain dinner? Wouldn’t’ that be sweet…sweet, sweet, revenge? It is long overdue.
