Dean-Charles Chapman (Tommen) talks about THAT scene

Few things elicit such strong feelings of  “ick” more than a sex scene between an adult and a…well, let’s just say an almost-adult. Dean-Charles Chapman, the young man who portrays Tommen of the House Baratheon, First of His Name, King of the Andals and the First Men and Lord of the Seven Kingdoms, had one of those scenes this past Sunday night, during Episode 503 of Game of Thrones, “High Sparrow.”

Chapman, who is 17 years of age, by the way, talked to MTV about that scene.

“It was very disturbing. Normally when my stuff’s on the telly, I don’t watch my own bits. But this was such a big scene for my character, so I checked it out… I found out about that scene by reading the script, and I was really shocked.

The actor goes on to talk about how he was nervous just pretending to marry Natalie Dormer, so you can imagine how nerve-wracking a sex scene with her must have been. Regarding the 33 year old Dormer, Chapman had this to say:

“Natalie is a lovely person, she made it all completely smooth. It’s just really weird as a viewer to watch — even if I watch it, it’s pretty messed up, because Tommen is such a young kid. Margaery is like, this fully grown woman, who is really just using Tommen for the power she can get from him… But it’s good for me.”

Heck yes it’s good for him. At 17, if you would have offered me a part in a show where I get a sex scene with one of the most beautiful women in Hollywood, I would have jumped at the chance…done back-flips, signed my entire life away, hell, even my soul…but that’s just being a boy at 17 years of age.

For Chapman’s sake, executive producers David Benioff and Dan Weiss had several run-throughs to make sure the scene went off without a hitch, and then they made the ultimate Bro-move by limiting the amount of people who were behind the scenes during filming. Chapman also had to get used to being almost naked in front of a fully naked gorgeous woman. “When you’re there and actually facing Natalie Dormer, it seems to go on for years, he said. It’s pretty weird. I only had my top off; underneath the quilt I had trackies on and stuff. So that was all good; I was all good. But Natalie — I pat her on the back for what she did.”

Surprisingly, this wasn’t the most difficult scene for Chapman to shoot during his stint on Game of Thrones. No, that honor goes to a scene involving a certain furry knight of the realm, who is infamous for his terrible cattitude on set…sorry, I had to do it.

“The longest day was definitely the Ser Pounce scene, because it was just over and over and over again, trying to get the cat to do the same thing.”

In fact, Chapman goes on to call the cat known as Ser Pounce a diva, and says that while the audience may miss him, in the end he’s just a cat. JUST A CAT? HOW DARE YOU, SER. I guess it’s safe to say that Ser Pounce won’t be getting any acting gigs anytime soon, thanks to this outrageous libel from his Game of Thrones colleague. In the end, that’s the real tragedy.
