Hilarity roundup: Game of Thrones meets Cake and Disney

As long as there is Game of Thrones, there will be people making amusing videos and the like about Game of Thrones. Here are a few of them.

First up, the musician formerly (and presently) known as Bonecage does a tribute to “Short Skirt/Long Jacket,” the 2001 song from Cake that described an ideal woman.  Reworked to fit into the Game of Thrones fandom, the song now describes Daenerys Targaryen, Mother of Dragons, Breaker of Chains, and the rest of it. “I want a girl who’s a capable ruler. She is fair, and loving, and doesn’t take grief. She is vanquishing her foes, and eating a horse heart. She is causing a stir, when she arrives on the scene.” The part about being a capable ruler is up for debate, but this is still really well-done.

Next, Funny or Die has put up another episode of its venerable Game of Thrones recap show, Gay of Thrones. This week, hairdresser Jonathan Van Ness and guest recap “High Sparrow,” and Van Ness adds new ridiculous nicknames to his ever-expanding collection.

I’ll admit I have a weekly for this series. My favorite nicknames from this episode:

  • Jaqen H’ghar: Super-hot Saint Francis
  • Margaery’s attendants: Fifth Harmony
  • Ramsay Bolton: Evil Elijah Wood
  • Janos Slynt: Night’s Watch Rob Reiner
  • The Sparrows: the Million Mom March
  • The High Septon: Keebler Grandpa

And finally, we’ve got a couple new images of the Game of Thrones cast rendered as Disney characters from illustrator Fernando Mendonça. Well, they might be new. We’ve featured Mendonça’s work on the site before, but these images didn’t make an appearance at the time, so they’re new to us, and diverting enough to be worth bringing up even if they’ve been around for a while.
