Gwendoline Christie’s Role Confirmed in Star Wars: The Force Awakens
We here at WiC are not immune to the call of May the 4th, the official Star Wars holiday, and neither is Disney’s marketing department. There’s been a delgue of Star Wars news today, including new pictures and confirmations of the roles certain late-in-the-game cast members are playing. One of those includes Game of Thrones‘ own Gwendoline Christie, aka Brienne of Tarth. We have the first picture of her in costume, courtesy of Dorkside, via Vanity Fair.
First Order Captain Phasma, or as we all nicknamed the character in the trailer, “Chrome Trooper.” At the time, it was rumored that the Chrome Trooper was indeed being played by Christie, but now we have confirmation. Hopefully, Christie will be able to take her helmet off at some point during the movie and show her face to millions of Star Wars fans, thus resulting in an even bigger career boost for her.
It’s a good thing Locke’s dead, or he’d need to run in terror. Stannis should be worried, too. As for Pod, I think he’d be very proud of what the knight he squires for has become, and would do everything to follow in her trooper footsteps.
