The Beautiful Deaths of Season 5, Episodes 1-3

HBO’s collaboration with Robert Ball continues. Last year, Ball worked with 360i and the premium channel to create “The Beautiful Deaths series,” 40 postersone for every episode of Game of Thrones that had aired, each based on a death in that episode. (A feat that brought home the fact that Game of Thrones is so filled with death, there is literally one to draw for *every episode.*)

Ball hasn’t stopped either. So far we’ve had at least one death per episode in Season 5, and Ball has memorialized them in his posters for the first three episodes. There are spoilers below for “The Wars to Come,” The House of Black and White,” and “High Sparrow” (There is not yet a poster for last night’s episode, so you’ve still got time to watch and see who will be added to the pantheon in coming days.)

Mance, drowning in the fires of Melisandre’s righteousness.

Mossador, dying to appease the Harpy god, his blood not balancing the scales of justice.

My personal favorite of the set. Jon Snow looking down at the bloody headsman’s block and seeing Ned Stark’s reflection looking back.
