HBO releases seven new images from “Kill the Boy”
“Kill the Boy,” the fifth episode of Game of Thrones‘ fifth season, airs in a few days. A clip from the episode already showed up online online earlier today, but this latest preview comes straight from HBO itself. The network has released a handful of new images that hint at what we’re in for come Sunday. Let’s take a look.
Pictured: Michael McElhatton as Roose Bolton, Iwan Rheon as Ramsay Bolton Photographer: Helen Sloan/ courtesy HBOIf the header image is anything to go by, this episode will feature some proper interaction between Sansa and her new fiancee Ramsay Bolton, interaction we can only pray won’t end in tears or lost limbs. Roose Bolton looks like he’s giving his son a stern talking-to in this shot—perhaps Roose will keep Ramsay’s worst instincts in check? After all, it wouldn’t do to torture the only member of your prospective family to whom the Northerners are actually loyal.
Pictured: Gwendoline Christie as Brienne of Tarth Photographer: Helen Sloan/ courtesy HBOMeanwhile, somewhere Winterfell-adjacent, Brienne strikes a pose in a doorway. If Ramsay does act up and harm Sansa, Brienne will likely make it her business to punish him.
Pictured: Peter Dinklage as Tyrion Lannister Photographer: Helen Sloan/ courtesy HBOSomewhere far beyond the Narrow Sea, Tyrion remains stuck on a boat with Jorah Mormont, and it looks like his hands are still bound. The teaser for next week shows Tyrion gazing awe-struck as Drogon flies overhead—the two have got to be nearing Meereen. Also, note the foliage on the side of the riverbank. It looks like this episode may adapt some of Tyrion’s atmospheric chapters from A Dance with Dragons, where he and his party drift through swampy areas plagued by Stone Men.
Pictured: Kerry Ingram as Shireen Baratheon Photographer: Helen Sloan/ courtesy HBOSpeaking of the Stone Men, here’s a striking picture of the Princess Shireen that emphasizes the greyscale on the side of her face. Is she planning to climb on that horse? If so, that could imply that she’s going to accompany Stannis on his march to Winterfell, which didn’t happen in the books. Maybe he’s feeling more paternal since sharing that heart-to-heart with her in “Sons of the Harpy.”
Pictured: Peter Vaughan as Maester Aemon, John Bradley as Samwell Tarly Photographer: Helen Sloan/ courtesy HBONext, we’ve got Maester Aemon and Samwell Tarly shooting the breeze. Or taking notes. It’s hard to tell.
Pictured: Kit Harington as Jon Snow Photographer: Helen Sloan/ courtesy HBOFinally, Jon Snow gives us his best Jon Snow face. That’ll do, Jon. That’ll do.
