Nerdist’s Because Science examines Game of Thrones

If the Gizmodo article from a couple of weeks ago on the possibility of Game of Thrones creatures actually existing in the real world didn’t sate your need for scientific discussion of a fantasy world, Nerdist has you covered. “Because Science,” an ongoing feature at Nerdist hosted by Kyle Hill, took a quick glance at a few areas of scientific interest in the show.

The key topics covered include Hodor’s affliction (which may fuel some fan discussion—just how did Hodor acquire his expressive aphasia anyway?), the dietary needs of Dany’s favorite son, and whether or not a man as large as The Mountain could actually crush a human skull. For an added bonus, here’s a link to Kyle’s video on dragon fire, which is focused on The Hobbit‘s Smaug (the “Cumberbatch-infused beast”—his words) but could also apply to the trio of delightful fire-breathers Khaleesi is raising.
