Emilia Clarke Dishes on Celebrity Fans in Harper’s Bazaar

STOP THE PRESSES. Hold Everything. According to Emilia Clarke, one of the coolest people on the planet may be a huge Game of Thrones nerd. Who, you might ask? Oh, only a little girl from Texas named Beyoncé.

Yes, it turns out the Queen of Pop, R&B, Fashion, Life, the Universe, and Everything is a massive Game of Thrones nerd. And apparently she would like to add to her ever-growing spate of titles. Khaleesi of the Great Red Carpet? Not quite. Try “The Mother of Blue Ivy….and Dragons.”

As the Mother of Dragons herself, Clarke would probably be the one to know. As part of her interview with Harper’s Bazaar this month, for which she also took some striking photos, Clarke dropped the tidbit that she tried to take one of the dragon eggs home with her after they hatched at the end of Season 1, but she was thwarted, as the prop had already been sold.

“Apparently Jay Z bought one for Beyoncé, or something,” she laughs. “I don’t know.” No eggs reside in the Clarke residence because “they are really, really, really expensive and they are really f*cking heavy and serious works of art.” Like Fabergé? “Eggs-actly! Eggs-cellent!”

The real question—does Beyoncé watch the show for fun? Or is it an intellectual exercise like it is for Snoop Dogg, who recently revealed that he watches the show “for historic reasons, to try to understand what this world was based on before I got here.” To be fair, Martin did base the original story on the War of the Roses (a fact that’s made more obvious when you read his original outline for the series.) But then, you know, dragons, Red Gods, White Walker Zombies… Let’s just say liberties were taken.

Meanwhile, Clarke dishes on other celebrities she’s met who are huge Game of Thrones fans. She learned recently that her character inspired nicknames between celebrity couples, including Channing Tatum (the star of the upcoming Magic Mike XXL—and no, not the Rod Red God kind of magic, though that would certainly make the movie way more interesting!) and his wife Jenna Dewan.

…they said, ‘We call each other ‘moon of my life’ and ‘my sun and stars’ and all that…”  And Clarke’s response to the “Magic Mike XXL” star? “I was like, ‘I cannot contain this. Please, can we all have something sexual together? You’re both beautiful, even just a hug.'”

Well, I suppose when you star in a show that started the concept of sexposition, everything ends up sexual, even just a hug.
