Game of Thrones: New Characters, Locations, and Footage
The Game of Thrones YouTube channel has just uploaded a brand new video focusing on the new locations and new characters of Season 5. At first it seems like the same old “Hey, it’s Dorne! It’s new! Thanks, Spanish Government for letting us use your castle!” stuff we’ve seen several times so far this season.
Then, right around the three-minute mark, things get really interesting. We see the filming of a scene we haven’t seen yet….
- I don’t know about the rest of you, but I am seriously excited to see Areo Hotah remember how to use that axe.
- Also, we get a glimpse of the other sisters in their matching armor.
- Also, note that in Indira Varma’s interview that she has her wide-shouldered cape off, and we can see she too has armor-plated shoulders.
- I really love this screen shot of the three Sand Snakes in shadow with Ellaria. I assume it’s from next week’s episode, which features the Sand Snakes clearly invading deep into the bowels of the Water Gardens.
- “Complicated Nieces.” Alexander Siddig, ladies and gentlemen!
- I’m sorry the Jonathan Pryce segment isn’t longer, but I love the shot (above) that looks like the room they’ll be trying Loras in. The shot of Lady Olenna looking incredulous is delicious. I’m hoping that’s from this coming week as well. Diana Rigg vs Jonathan Pryce would be to die for.
- In the House of Black and White sequence, it’s nice that they really show off the set. One of the (small petty) issues I had with Arya’s scenes inside the House was that the lighting was so dark you couldn’t see the detail, especially of the god statues, like you see in the screen shot above.
