HBO releases five new images from “Unbowed, Unbent, Unbroken”

“Unbowed, Unbent, Unbroken,” the forthcoming episode of Game of Thrones, will air on Sunday, and HBO is doing its part to whet fans’ appetites by releasing a handful of new images. Let’s dive right in.

This is the first of many new pics showing scenes set in Dorne. In case you’ve forgotten, the show would like to remind you that it’s invested a lot in this plotline, and that the locations it secured are very pretty. In this shot, Obara brandishes her spear in what looks like the Water Gardens.

Areo Hotah and his cadre of guards can’t be very happy about that. Here, Hotah looks to be preparing for a showdown with the Sand Snakes, who are presumably raiding the Water Gardens in order to abduct Myrcella Baratheon, and then maybe to cut her into little pieces in hopes of starting a war. Bronn did warn us all about how crazy those Dornish are.

The final image out of Dorne is of Prince Trystane Martell, who’s holding a sword in one hand and a flower in the other. How poetic. He’s engaged to be married to Myrcella, so he’s probably anti-cutting her up into little pieces, although it remains to be seen whether he can do anything to stop it.

Elsewhere in the world, Tyrion and Jorah recover from their run-in with the stone men from last week. Tyrion doesn’t have any restraints on his hands and Jorah looks vaguely concerned about him, so it seems like almost being killed by leprosy zombies has brought the two characters closer together. Also, note that the description for “Unbowed, Unbent, Unbroken” contains this little nugget: “Jorah (Iain Glen) and Tyrion (Peter Dinklage) run into slavers.” I probably shouldn’t get ahead of myself by pointing out the lack of restraints.

Finally, we have a shot of Diana Rigg as Lady Olenna Tyrell ahead of her glorious return. Margaery gave her grandmother a call back in “Sons of the Harpy” after her situation in King’s Landing deteriorated significantly. Olenna doesn’t return to King’s Landing in the books, but if it means Rigg will get more chances to breath witty life into the character, I’m fine with the change.
