Iwan Rheon On How To Keep Ramsay At Bay

(Please be advised, this post contains no spoilers from last night’s episode.)

Iwan Rheon (Ramsay Snow) had some advise for his bride to be in two interviews going in to last night’s episode. And it mostly boils down to that chilling statement we’ve heard from Ramsay before: Don’t bore him. It’s a warning Myranda has taken to heart, and may be one that Sansa picks up before the end.

What is going on with Myranda anyway, besides her obvious jealousy of Sansa and the fact that she’s slightly unbalanced? Rheon thinks she’s playing a dark game.

She’s treading a very fine line though — he doesn’t care about her, really. I don’t think he truly cares about anyone. And I think she knows that as well so it’s a very interesting dynamic.

Although it’s interesting to see Myranda insist on joining Ramsay at his level, it’s Sansa and Theon (Reek) that we’re really concerned about. The Hollywood Reporter asks just how much danger they’re in. First up, Rheon talked about Reek, who Ramsay “forgave” last week.

That was a quite rare, sort of one-off. In a strange way, he did punish him, didn’t he? In a really dark way, by parading him in front of Sansa. Ramsay was like, “Oh! I’ll do that instead then.” He probably had a plan of when they were going to meet and probably decided, “I’ll do it this way instead.”

As for Sansa…

Ramsay is incredibly unpredictable…. He is a horrible human being. He’s capable of anything, really. Because of who she is, I don’t think Roose Bolton will stand for too much slapping around. I think the mental side of it will be horrendous. That’s going to be the difficult bit.

No, but then again, Roose isn’t exactly around when the doors close at night. And we know from Roose’s speech to Ramsay in “Kill the Boy” that he’s not above abusing and raping women. What’s surprising is how Ramsay took hearing the story of his conception.

I think it was roughly what he thought had happened, but I thought it was interesting how his father spelled it out to drive his point home. He does want Ramsay to be his son. You have to understand, Roose needs to manipulate Ramsay a little bit.

In the moment, it was very emotional for him to hear his father say that. He’s been wanting that all his life. It’s quite a special moment for him. As time goes, he has to be ready for every eventuality, and he’s an intelligent guy. He thinks a lot. He’s very tactical. He’s planning what he’s going to do. Although he seems quite wild and irrational, he’s actually a little bit smarter than he lets on.

Both interviews ask one more very important question for us viewers—wil Ramsay head out to the battlefield when Stannis arrives, and how do we think he’ll fare? Poorly, we can all hope.

I don’t think anyone would be able to keep him off that battlefield. That’s literally the best day out in the world for him.

Perhaps it’s Stannis we should be worried about…For more from Iwan Rheon, check out the interviews at Making Game of Thrones and The Hollywood Reporter.
