Hilarity Roundup: Tyrion meets Coldplay and a flying lawnmower, plus Gay of Thrones

In this world, there are a few things you can always depend on: the sun will rise in the morning, set at night, and the internet will produce a string of Game of Thrones-themed parody videos so long as the show remains popular. We’ve collected a few of the recent ones for your amusement.

First, we’ve got a video of Peter Dinklage singing part of a Game of Thrones musical sketch written by Coldplay, which is just one of those sentences I never expected to write. Dinklage grimaces his way through the number in fine rock star fashion, slurring about all the characters Tyrion has survived. The whole thing is a promotion for NBC’s Red Nose Day, a TV event that will feature many Game of Thrones cast members trying to raise money for children living in poverty, but it works pretty well on its own.

Next, we’ve got the latest episode in Funny or Die’s thrice-blessed Gay of Thrones series, in which hairdresser Jonathan Van Ness dissects the latest episode of the show in hilariously irreverent fashion. Even this late into the season, Van Ness’ colorful nicknames for characters are still worth cataloging. Here’s some of the new(ish) ones:

  • Jaqen H’ghar: Hot Saint Francis
  • Malko (the slaver who kidnapped Jorah and Tyrion: Out-of-drag Latrice Royale
  • Littlefinger: Earl Grey
  • Lady Olenna: Highgarden Maggie Smith
  • Myranda: Rosamund Pike

Also, I didn’t realize how much Sansa’s wedding to Ramsay resembled “Santa’s Village during a power outage” until watching this.

Going back to Tyrion, there’s a rash of videos going around that rework the scene from “Kill the Boy” where he’s awestruck by the sight of Drogon. These videos edit the scene so that he appears awestruck by, y’know, stupid stuff, like Dumbo or a flying lawnmower. Observe.

There’s a whole slew of these videos here. Yes, they’re silly, but they’d be hilarious at four in the morning after too many drinks. You’ll be thankful for them then.

And finally, Game of Thrones fan Chrys K posted another clever image-by-image recap of the latest episode over on Imgur. I’ll leave you with a sample.
