Behind the Scenes in the House of Black and White
One of the better kept secrets going into this season of Game of Thrones was what was behind the gigantic doors of the House of Black and White. We’ve slowly had the temple revealed to us bit by bit over the course of the season, ending last Sunday in the enormous gallery known as “The Hall of Faces.” In the clip below, the producers, designers, actors, and George R.R. Martin discuss the details, including the ideas behind the “headquarters of the faceless men,” and what went into bringing them to life on screen.
We saw a little bit of this before in last week’s overview of all the new locations the show has introduced this year, but where that segment focused on the atrium, this video passed right on through to the Hall of Faces, where we learn that, among others, David Benioff and Dan Weiss are placed among the dead.
Now that you’ve seen some of the VFX that went into creating the House of Black and White and where the set ends and the CGI begins, the best thing to do is to watch the scene again.
