The Beautiful Deaths of Hardhome

Most of the time Robert Ball has an easy time of it when an episode kills off a single character. Like last week’s entry with Aemon Targaryen, the poster usually focuses on the character and the character’s history, along with a meaningful line about said character. But what do you do when the deaths in the episode number in the thousands, such as with the Massacre at Hardhome?

The result is my favorite poster of the season. (So far—we’ve still got two more to go.) I love the image of The Night’s King raising his arms, interpolated with the images of the Four Horsemen of the Icepocalpyse and the wooden walls of the encampment that failed to provide any protection against the army of the dead. Speaking of which, those blue eyes of the dead all seem focused on the image at the bottom—of Jon Snow’s one beacon of hope as he takes down a white walker general.

I’m only sorry I don’t see a direct Karsi reference, although I suppose the image of the tiny child just to the right of Jon’s sword point is enough.
