Take the Black Podcast—Episode 509—The Dance of Dragons
This week on Take the Black, Isis and I are joined by special guest Ani Bundel! You may know her work from this very website, and seeing as how she is the glue that holds this place together, we thought it would be amazing to pick her brain for all the Game of Thrones knowledge stored there. Sadly, Luke did not join us, as Shireen’s death had a lasting effect on him, he being the father of two young girls, and he needed a week off.
Speaking of our darling Shireen, we lament her passing, but also ask the question: What did you expect Stannis to do? Of course we can understand that this was a severe and heart-wrenching moment, especially for parents…but this is Game of Thrones, and if you think this has a happy ending, you haven’t been paying attention.
We discuss, at length, Arya’s decision to abort her first mission and if she really fooled Sexy Jesus. We also talk about just what exactly Mercy Arya will have to do in order to carry out her personal mission against the pedophilic Meryn Trant. Other topics include what Davos’ reaction will be once he learns that Stannis has burned Shireen, how Dorne finally had a great scene, and how Jon can expect the men of the Night’s Watch to react now that all the wildlings have passed through the gate.
Although we try to make Take the Black an Unsullied-friendly podcast, the wary should beware that Ani and I, who are book-readers, get to talking about a couple of things coming up in the books, specifically as they pertain to Arya’s journey in The Winds of Winter and what happens in King’s Landing toward the end of A Dance of Dragons. Basically, beware of minor spoilers. Isis, meanwhile, has not read the books, as is evidenced by her adorable theories about what’s going to happen. Also, this episode does contain some F-bombs, as we get graphic about what we want to see happen to Ramsay, among other things, so consider this your NSFW warning.
