Game of Thrones Season 5 soundtrack available today

Game of Thrones has always featured excellent music. The opening theme is practically iconic at this point, having been played and covered so many times that infants probably burst out of their mother’s wombs already humming it. Elsewhere, composer Ramin Djawadi’s heavy, atmospheric tunes have always helped set the mood, no matter what tone the show is going for at any given time. Those of you who have enjoyed his work this year may be interested to know that, as of today, the Game of Thrones Season 5 soundtrack is available to download from digital retailers like Amazon and iTunes. If you’re an old-fashioned Game of Thrones fan, Game of Thrones (Music from the HBO Series) Season 5 will be available in CD format on July 17.

The soundtrack features 18 tracks from this season, including:

  • Main Titles
  • Blood Of The Dragon
  • House Of Black And White
  • Jaws Of The Viper
  • Hardhome Pt. 1
  • Hardhome Pt. 2
  • Mother’s Mercy
  • Kill The Boy
  • Dance Of Dragons
  • Kneel For No Man
  • High Sparrow
  • Before The Old Gods
  • Atonement
  • I Dreamt I Was Old
  • The Wars To Come
  • Forgive Me
  • Son Of The Harpy
  • Throne For The Game featuring Bradley Hanan Carter

If you’re still not convinced of the aural majesty of this show, feel free to have a listen to one of this year’s most recognizable tracks, “Dance of Dragons.” The mournful strings have helped amp up several moments featuring Drogon this season, including his visit with Dany during “The House of Black and White,” his flyover in Valyria from “Kill the Boy,” and of course the scene in Daznak’s Pit this past Sunday.
