Game of Thrones Episode 510—Mother’s Mercy—Preview
Well, here we are. It’s been a long, exciting, tumultuous season of Game of Thrones, but we’re finally at the end. So much has happened that it seems a fruitless to recap it. Let’s just look at HBO’s official synopsis of “Mother’s Mercy,” this Sunday’s season finale.
Stannis marches. Dany is surrounded by strangers. Cersei (Lena Headey) seeks forgiveness. Jon is challenged.
Here’s a question: why is Lena Headey the only one who gets a credit next to the name of her character? I can understand why HBO might not credit Stephen Dillane as Stannis—after last week, the network may be as angry at the character as the rest of the fan community, but what does it have against Jon and Dany? They didn’t burn their kids alive.
It might just be a tip-off that Cersei will have a sizable portion of the episode devoted to her. She’s been rotting in jail for awhile now, and if her tearful visage in the trailer is any indication, her story will soon be coming to a head.
We all know the season finale is going to bring some major fireworks, but the trailer plays amusingly coy. Sam asks Jon what he’s going to do, but what exactly is he asking about? Tune in to find out. Arya stares at something in the Hall of Faces, but what is it? Tune in to find out. Brienne turns to face someone, but who…you get the idea.
Book-readers probably have pretty solid ideas about what’s coming, but that doesn’t make the wait any less excruciating. Personally, I’m looking for Sansa to take some initiative and get herself out of her dire situation. Here’s where and when to watch “Mother’s Mercy” come Sunday, when all our questions will be answered.
