Winter is Coming Live—Mother’s Mercy

The end. After a tumultuous season, Game of Thrones concluded its fifth season last night with “Mother’s Mercy,” surely one of the bleakest—if not the bleakest—hours in the show’s history. Your trusty hosts Adam Rady and Alison Haislip are on hand to break down the big fat pile of ohmigod that was last night’s episode. Joining them is Jonathan London, as Xavier Brinkman and his fantastic hair were otherwise engaged this week.

As always, we’ve broken the episode down into manageable chunks, of which there are quite a few in this supersized edition. Let’s not bury the lead: Jon Snow died. What’s up with that?

As predicted, fans had some impassioned reactions to Jon Snow’s death. Denial is a popular option, but there’s some anger in there, too.

“Mother’s Mercy” contained it’s fair share of “holy crap” moments, aka moments that make you sit up in your chair and say, “Holy crap!” What was the biggest.

And the bleakness keeps on coming. Next, the team debates which was the most difficult death to watch in the episode, and there were plenty of choices. Again, bleakness.

Finally, if all that bleakness is getting to you, the team debates the cheeriest moment of the episode.

Whew, that was an intense one. Thanks to Entertainment Weekly for sponsoring us, the WiC Live team for always putting on a great show, and to you guys for tuning in! It’s not the end, either! The team will be back next week to go over the entirety of Season 5.
