Hilarity roundup: Arya, Meryn, and Syrio settle things, plus Ramsay Bolton’s soft side
Plenty of people have been reacting to this past Sunday’s Game of Thrones season finale. Some of those reactions have been funny, so let’s get into it.
One of the most memorable scenes in “Mother’s Mercy” involved Arya stabbing the ever-loving hell out of Meryn Trant, the man who killed her beloved dancing master Syrio Forel back in Season 1. It was brutal to watch, but Miltos Yerolemou, the actor who played Syrio, was gratified.

Yerolemou could have left it at that, but he couldn’t resist firing a shot at Ian Beattie, the actor who played Trant. Beattie, in turn, fired back in a way that would have done his character proud.
@miltosyerolemou you’re welcome you water dancing little git

Just as it started to look like we were gonna have a Twitter reenactment of Syrio and Meryn’s Season 1 battle, Maisie Williams stepped in and tried to calm things down. Okay, so maybe she wasn’t trying to calm things down so much as she was poking a couple of bears, but it was funny. Beattie ended the argument by placing the blame where it belongs.
@Maisie_Williams @miltosyerolemou don’t you start! It’s all your fault!

It’s good to see these three are getting along.
Maisie Williams continued to provide memorable moments during a Twitter Q&A session. Here’s one of the more noteworthy questions and answers.
@geeemma_vale @GameOfThrones I DNT CARE ABUT UR SILLY FEKIN NIGHTS WATCH OMG STAHP STABBIN JON SNOOOO — Maisie Williams (@Maisie_Williams) June 15, 2015
Sounds about right. She also referred to Ygritte as a “bamf” and reveals that, in her spare time, she likes to “pretend i’m a carrot and bury myself in the ground,” so it was a memorable Q&A.
Elsewhere on the internet, YouTuber M&M put together a video spotlighting the kind heart and gentle demeanor…of Ramsay Bolton. It’s amazing how innocent Ramsay looks scampering through the forest with Myranda when you play an Elton John song over it and cut out the grisly bits.
With the finale providing the show with some extra attention, plenty of other people were putting up Thrones-themed videos, including this one comparing the merits of Game of Thrones to those of The Lord of the Rings, a battle for the ages, and this preschool parody for Sprout TV.
This week also saw the season finale of Gay of Thrones, Funny of Die’s long-running series that approaches the show from a, shall we say, homosexual perspective. It sounds like host Jonathan Van Ness has a cold in this episode, but he and his guest still tear into “Mother’s Mercy” but proper.
This was the finale, so there weren’t really any any new characters Van Ness could come up with ridiculous nicknames for, but I’m still going to quote some choice comparisons.
- Sam leaving for Oldtown: going to grad school at Vassar
- While wearing another face, Arya was “high as f*** on Polyjuice Potion”
- Leaving Tyrion in charge of Meereen was “just like when LBJ got put in charge after JFK flew away on his dragon.”
- Daenerys came upon the Dothraki horde, or “a posse full of her ex’s friends”
- Cersei’s walk of shame: a live version of YouTube comments
I’m really going to miss this show. I mean, mostly I’ll miss Game of Thrones, but also the show designed to mock Game of Thrones.
