Another Game of Thrones theme song arrangement
It’s a day that ends in “y,” which means there’s yet another cover of the Game of Thrones theme song for your earholes to enjoy. This one comes to us from musical mastermind Jillian Aversa, who really went all-out with this one. Check out the video below.
The description details the specific nature of the project, focusing on Daenerys Stormborn’s journey through the video (with Aversa herself portraying the dragon queen) and in the lyrics, which are written in Dothraki. It’s a gorgeous and moving take on the show’s emotional themes, which can sometimes get lost in the high-minded (or highly politicized) discussions. She even manages a sly nod to the books; the prelude is a somber echo of Ramin Djawadi’s theme for House Stark, creating resonance between the titular “ice” and “fire” of the series. (Yes, it’s literally “a song of ice and fire.”)
If you dig the song, you can pick it up from her Bandcamp page. Gamer types may also be interested in her profile of work over at OCReMix. I dub thee “Jillian Aversatile.” (I’m sorry.)
