Hilarity roundup: Super Mario intro, Tyrion’s man cave, and a Game of Thrones theme park
Season 5 of Game of Thrones has come and gone, but funny little tidbits continue to pour in from around the internet. First up, we have another worthy addition into the pantheon of great Game of Thrones parody intros. At this point, the idea of putting a twist on the show’s opening credits is pretty old hat, but when its this well-done, it’s still worth celebrating. In this version, YouTuber Steven Jase remakes the intro so it takes us on a tour of the world map of 1990’s landmark Super Mario World, starring T. Yoshisaur “Yoshi” Munchakoopas. Let’s watch.
Next, Nabru takes us inside Tyrion Lannister’s “Man Cave.” The designers have fashioned a digital version of Tyrion’s room and packed it with objects of special important to the littlest Lannister, including a crossbow, books, and plenty of wine. Scroll over various objects for the skinny on why they’re important. Also, it appears that Tyrion has hung pictures of both himself and Jaime on the far side of his room. Why would he do this? Perhaps it’s best not to ask.
Finally, here’s an interesting factoid. According to a survey of British citizens conducted by FloridaTix.com, quite a few Brits would enjoy visiting a Game of Thrones theme park, despite the fact that few of them would be likely to leave such a place alive. Here’s a breakdown of the properties Brits would most like to see turned into theme parks.
- 1. Jurassic World (30%)
- 2. Game of Thrones (18%)
- 3. Star Wars (17%)
- 4. Hunger Games (13%)
- 5. Lord of The Rings (12%)
- 6. Doctor Who (10%)
- 7. Futurama (0.3%)
- 8. Adventure Time (0.2%)
- 9. Family Guy (0.2%)
- 10. Breaking Bad (0.1%)
I suppose in makes sense for Jurassic World to top this list, since that movie is literally about a theme park (or a very specialized zoo, whatever), but I wonder if people realize that the dinosaurs routinely escape and try to eat the paying customers. I don’t like my chances in a Hunger Games theme park, either.
