17. Random Great Master/Hundreds of Harpies
What good is the Queen of Dragons without her babies? This was the internal dilemma Dany dealt with all season long, as she kept two of her children locked away in the catacombs while Drogon flew free without her. It’s not an accident that her strongest scenes this season came when she was using her dragons to intimidate and conquer. After all, that’s what the Queen of Dragons is meant to do.
The scene in the catacombs from “Kill the Boy,” where Dany fed a random Great master to her pets, was one of the few “Fuck yeah, Dany!” moments of the season, while Drogon’s arrival in the penultimate episode, where he cleansed Daznak’s Pit by roasting harpies alive, was one of the highlights of the year.
