Ratings report: Game of Thrones keeps flying high with “No One”
We’re in the home stretch of Game of Thrones Season 6, and the show is barreling ahead like a professional assassin tearing down the streets of a bustling port city, Terminator-like in her determination to finish strong.
That’s an elaborate way of saying that “No One,” the eighth episode of Season 6, was watched live by 7.60 million people this past Sunday. That’s a lotta people. The episode nabbed a 3.9 demo rating and easily won the night among its cable brethren—its closest competition was from AMC’s Preacher, which pulled in 1.75 million live viewers.
Someday…
Those numbers are consistent with the ratings Game of Thrones has been getting all season, and are above what the show pulled in at the same point last year. (The eighth episode of Season 5, “Hardhome,” was watched by 7.01 million live viewers.)
The question now is whether there’s going to be a jump in viewership during the final two episodes. Ratings-wise, the show is having its strongest year so far, but it has yet to nab over eight million live viewers for a single episode, something Season 5 did right out of the gate with “The Wars to Come.” Traditionally, Game of Thrones ratings tick upward towards the end of a season, so we’ll see if the show will be able to outdo itself with either of the final two episodes of the season: “Battle of the Bastards” or “The Winds of Winter.”
