Lyanna Mormont

Lyanna Mormont Official

Charging onto the screen and into our hearts in “The Broken Man,” Lyanna Mormont became an instant fan favorite. She has the same stout, loyal heart and innate leadership skills of her late uncle Jeor Mormont, and her unwavering loyalty to Jon Snow as her King in the North, matched with her rhetorical skills and her willingness to call out other northern Lords who had proven less steadfast, makes her a uniquely likable character.

The Mormont army took a hit at the Red Wedding, leaving them with a 10-year-old leader and only 62 men to offer Jon Snow and the Starks in their time of need. But the Mormonts produce hearty stock. Even Jorah Mormont (Lyanna’s cousin), with all his flaws, has a lot to recommend him. And as enemies gather in the south, White Walkers press from the north, and winter freezes everything solid, it’s going to require more than just armies to emerge triumphant. It’s going to require titanic fortitude, a quality that Lyanna Mormont radiates in such abundance that it lifts up all the people around her. That should keep her safe for the immediate future.

Also, although they’re off-book and supposedly don’t change things based on fan opinion, we think David Benioff and Dan Weiss realize how much of a winner they have in Lyanna Mormont. She provides a lightness in this very dark world, and that makes her an asset.

Chance of survival: 85%
