Look, someone has to run Dorne, okay? It’s been introduced. It’s a place. Whether we like it or not, Dorne is a thing, and it has to keep being a thing. Dany has to worry about appeasing the people who rule it. When her conquest is complete, she’ll have to install a governor friendly to her aims to keep the peace among the people.

Do we really *want* to introduce more Dornish characters so that Dany can depose Ellaria and install someone else? Do we really want to waste time with that? No, we do not. It will just be easier if Ellaria is left alive to start her own dynastic line of women rulers watching over the the south so that we can forget about it. And seriously, those useless Sand Snakes are not going to be fit to do it. So we might as well leave this one alive for everyone’s ease and convenience.

Congrats, lady—you get to live a nice long life in a sunny, free-thinking paradise. Hopefully, we only hear from you through the occasional raven.
