When A Game of Thrones came out in the mid-90s, I remember thinking I was reading the story of the morally heroic Ned Stark. But there were also these weird chapters starring a 14-year-old who was married off to a horse lord twice her age and was having a terrible time of it. I could not even begin to figure out how she was going to figure in and team up with ned Stark to topple these Lannister jackasses, since Ned was one of people who went to war with her family. Once I picked up that there was something fishy about Lyanna Stark and that Jon Snow might actually be a Sekret Targaryen, I starting thinking it could work, but how do we get Jon off that silly Wall?

And then Ned died and I realized I’d been reading the book from the wrong angle the entire time. This was not Ned Stark’s Story. This is Daenerys Targaryen’s story. Everyone dies. Ned, Robb, hell, even Jon Snow goddamn dies. (He got better, but still.)

But not Dany. This is her story. She’s going to survive Season 7.

So, I mean, really. Come on now.
