Who’s going to die in Game of Thrones Season 7? Odds on 50 characters
Edmure Tully

Poor, poor Edmure Tully. He’s a lousy archer, he spent his wedding night in a dungeon, and Jaime Lannister used him to turn the besieged soldiers of House Tully against the doomed Blackfish. Last we heard, Edmure was back in a cell, although he seemed relatively safe because Walder Frey was of the opinion that “killing my son-in-law would not be right.” Now that Walder Frey’s dead, circumstances may be different.
Edmure Tully seems like one of those middling, listless, ethically-compromised characters so easily killed off in the cloak and dagger world of Game of Thrones. Frankly, it’s difficult to see him surviving Season 7. But Westeros is also a place where, under the right circumstances, former pawns can make grabs for power. Edmure is the rightful heir to House Tully, and he has the support of the Tully army. He has shown signs of military capability in the past, and his experiences as Walder Frey’s prisoner have hopefully taught him a few lessons about making bone-headed moves in a high-stakes game.
Now that Walder is dead, it’s possible that Edmure could escape his captivity. From there, he would have a few options: he could try to rally the Tully loyalists in the Riverlands, or he could petition Jaime Lannister for the reward promised to him for his role in the successful siege: to live out his days a permanent but pampered resident of Casterly Rock in the company of his wife (Roslin Frey) and newborn son.
Without any exceptional talents, the odds of Edmure’s head staying connected to his neck are long. But in the inevitable chaos to come, there could be opportunities for a borderline player to enter the great game.
Chance of survival: 35%
