7. Renly and Loras

The only homosexual couple of the list, Loras and Renly seemed to have a strong relationship. Loras supported Renly’s claim to the throne, and Renly gave Loras a prominent place in his inner circle. Sure, they bickered when it came to Renly’s political marriage to Loras’ sister Margaery, but that situation was bound to be awkward for anyone. The realities of power consolidation in Westeros make for weird bedfellows, literally. At least Margaery was understanding about it.

Unfortunately, we don’t know a lot of details about this relationship because we saw relatively little of it before Renly died in the middle of season 2. The most tender moment they shared may have occurred after Renly’s death, in a deleted scene where Loras mourned his dead lover.

With both Loras and Renly now dead, it looks like Yara is the only prominent homosexual character left in the story. We doubt her flirtation with Daenerys in the season 6 finale will go anywhere, but as she said at the time, “I’m up for anything, really.”
