Who’s had the most successful post-Game of Thrones career?

Finn Jones

Loras Tyrell, the Knight of Flowers, was on the show since the beginning. Actor Finn Jones did his best with a role that was often underwritten — most book fans would probably agree the show never captured the spirit of the character from the novels. But when Loras’ number did come up in the final episode of season 6 (blown up by his fiancé, naturally), it gave Jones an opportunity to explore other projects, which he did with abandon.

Not long after Loras’ death, fans got to enjoy Jones in the title role of Mavel’s Iron Fist series. We have already established that Game of Thrones actors are in high demand when it comes to superhero TV shows and movies, so it wasn’t shocking that Jones would be attached to this kind of project. Netflix has several Marvel shows that have been overnight successes, so anticipation for Iron Fist was high. Unfortunately, the show was critically panned, but he’ll get a chance to redeem himself in Marvel’s superhero team-up show The Defenders when it premieres on Netflix in August of this year.

Art Parkinson

As the actor behind Rickon Stark, the youngest and the most disposable Stark son, Art Parkinson did his best with the role he was given. Parkinson got his start in acting at the tender age of 7, well before he was cast in Game of Thrones. Granted, he had never had a role of this magnitude, but it opened doors for him in television and movies. Although Parkinson has been on Game of Thrones since season 1, he’s only appeared in 14 episodes, the last being Battle of the Bastards.

I wouldn’t worry about Parkinson’s career too much. While Rickon was following his brother and getting captured by the Boltons, Parkinson was working on his acting cred. He’s already added eight films to his resume, one of which features Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson: the summer blockbuster San Andreas. He was also in the Academy Award-nominated Kubo and the Two Strings, which was up for Best Animated Feature and Best Visual Effects. Parkinson has also been added to the cast of the movie Zoo. His fellow cast members include Toby Jones and fellow Game of Thrones alum Ian McElhinney. If Parkinson keeps acting, he will not only have a sizable repertoire of films under his belt, but build a reputation for more than his bit role on Thrones.
