Who’s going to die in Game of Thrones season 8? Odds on every character

Jaime Lannister

Jaime Lannister’s odds of dying are among the toughest to predict. He may have started the series by pushing a child out a window, but Jaime has slowly morphed into a character we cheer for. His companionship with Brienne of Tarth and Cersei’s slow descent into madness have helped with that. Will Jaime be held accountable for his past sins? Or has the man with the golden hand been forgiven?

At the end of season 7, Jaime headed north, presumably so he could join the fight against the army of the dead. And as exciting as the prospect of Jaime fighting shoulder-to-shoulder with Jon Snow and the others is, it’s also going to be very, very dangerous, particularly for a man with one hand.

And if Jaime survives whatever awaits him in the North, he still has his sister to deal with. Jaime and Cersei have both said that they will leave the world together as they entered it together, a gloomy prospect, but one that could prove true given the magnetic hold these two have on one another. We think Cersei is going down in season 8. Is jaime doomed to join her, or can he break free?

We can imagine happy endings for Jaime, too: living out his days with Brienne, for instance, or even living alone, learning what it means to exist separate from his sister. But I don’t think those are likely. Jaime has many crimes to answer for, and despite any good deeds in the wars to come, I doubt he’ll be able to escape his fate.

Chance of death: 60%
