Who’s going to die in Game of Thrones season 8? Odds on every character
Melisandre
The original and best Red Woman (move aside, Kinvara) has a hell of a lot of blood on her hands, from the Princess Shireen to Gendry’s junk, and in a world where the innocent suffer, but their tormentors find themselves facing far more gruesome fates — Joffrey, Ramsay, and Walder Frey spring to mind — surely it’s only a matter of time before Melisandre will be forced to face her punishment?
It’s not a huge stretch to believe that our favorite Red Priestess is not long for this world. Melisandre’s blind devotion to the Lord of Light has allowed her commit terrible atrocities in the belief that she is saving the world, but in recent seasons, she’s been wrestling with her guilt, and it’s difficult to foresee a situation in which she’d try too hard to avoid meeting her maker. The lady herself has even warned us, first telling Jon and Davos that she has been ready to die for many years, then scaring the life out of Varys with her proclamation that both of them will die in Westeros — sooner rather than later, one would imagine.
Though Melisandre is so powerful that it’s hard to believe she could be taken down by a mere mortal, she made an enemy of Arya Stark when she took Gendry, her sacrificial lamb, to Dragonstone for a bout of sexy bloodletting. Given the most murderous Stark’s penchant for revenge, and Mel’s own assurance that the two are bound to meet again, one could be forgiven for assuming that the night, for the Red Woman, at least, is dark, full of terrors, and creeping closer.
Chance of death: 85%
