Who’s going to die in Game of Thrones season 8? Odds on every character

This is a tough one to predict. We like Missandei. Missandei has been on the scene for years. But we don’t know her incredibly well, and she isn’t vitally important to any ongoing plotlines. So far as long-running characters go, that makes her more expendable than most. Going into the endgame, expendable isn’t a great thing to be.

From a dramatic perspective, I can see why the writers might think killing Missandei is a good idea. Taking down one of Daenerys’ oldest friends and followers would underscore the dire circumstances in which our heroes find themselves, but it wouldn’t really change the direction of the plot, since Daenerys can pretty much still do everything she wants with or without Missandei’s help. On the other hand, the show would have to do some narrative cartwheels to get MIssandei into a situation where her life would be in danger. She’s following her queen into a war against the dead, yes, but as a councillor and attendant, she won’t be on the front lines of that war.

With that in mind, unless Missandei’s death comes about organically, it could feel shocking for the sake of being shocking, in which case it would be better off not happening. That’s why I’m giving Missandei slight odds of surviving the series. She’s by no means out of the woods, but light is breaking through the canopy.
