Who’s going to die in Game of Thrones season 8? Odds on every character

The Mountain’s gonna die…again. That’s a pretty safe bet, right?

Really, I feel like the Mountain is being kept around so he can die in an epic fashion towards the end of the story. He’s been an imposing presence since his resurrection in season 5, but outside of killing a few randos at Cersei’s behest and stopping Tommen from leaving his room in “The Winds of Winter” (not that it helped), he hasn’t really done much. The most interaction he’s had with another character in the last 25-plus episodes was when the Hound got up in his face during the Dragonpit meeting in the season 7 finale, and the Mountain didn’t say a word during that “exchange.”

Gregor Clegane is Chekov’s giant zombie murderer. He’s been standing around looking intimidating for years, but you know he’s eventually going to swing his sword at someone who matters (probably the Hound — get hype). And when he does, the show will milk it for all it’s worth.

In any case, I’d bet a ton of money that the Mountain will fall by the of season 8. The only question remaining is who, if anyone, he’ll take with him.
