5. Divergence from canon

All the main characters in Titans?Comic book characters have been around for a while in the comics, so their stories are already out there if you go looking. Sometimes, to maintain an element of surprise, the writers choose to take a new route, taking a character somewhere no one could predict.

Take the show’s treatment of Dick. In the comics, Dick Greyson does indeed quit being Robin. There, he was tired of Bruce Wayne’s attitude and wanted to become his own person. There was a lot of acrimony on both sides, but on?Titans, Dick has a lot of resentment and hatred towards Bruce, whom Dick believes is his responsible for his anger issues. On?Titans, he’s a ball of rage and violence, quick unlike anything from the comics.?Dick’s issues with Bruce play a key role in the finale.

It’s also heavily implied that in the?Titans universe,?unlike in the comics, Batman is a killer. That change upset a few fans, including me.
