Disney hikes theme park prices in advance of Star Wars attraction
This summer, Disney will open the Galaxy’s Edge attraction at its Disneyland theme park.?Galaxy’s Edge?will feature rides like?Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run?and?Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance. There will be droids and alien creatures wandering all over the place, and even a cantina that serves alcohol, so the parents can have a break.
It’s also going to make Disney a lot of money, and the company knows it. To wit: the?Associated Press?reports that Disney has hiked the prices at Disneyland, with annual passes and parking going up 25 percent, and that’s on top of an 18 percent increase from last year. At this point, even one-day value passes — those are the tickets reserved for low-demand days — are over $100.

Down in Florida, Disney World isn’t any cheaper — the least expensive one-day pass there is going for $109. Asked about the price changes, a Disney said the following to Entertainment Weekly:
We continue to provide our guests with a variety of ticket offerings to meet their needs, while helping us to spread visitation, better manage demand, and deliver a great experience.

Even with last year’s price increase, plenty of people are still flocking to Disney theme parks. Will this be enough to turn them away? Maybe…but then again, who doesn’t want to get drunk at a space cantina, buy a wookie costume and ride the Millennium Falcon? You can’t put a price on that…although Disney will try.
