4. Hogwarts from the Harry Potter?series by J.K. Rowling

Harry Potter is a pop culture phenomenon, and it’s been that way for many years. Most of its success is down to J.K. Rowling’s ability to craft an original, magical tale following many lovable characters on an unforgettable journey. The other major contributing factor is her masterful worldbuilding. Hogwarts was more than just a magic school, it was a character in itself.

The map of Hogwarts might not cover as much land compared to other maps on this list. However, it makes up for that in other ways. It shows the entire Hogwarts grounds, where each location holds immense importance to the story. All of the history of Hogwarts, one of the most popular locations in fantasy, is packed into this (relatively) small area. There’s no wasted space at all.

Indeed, the map above might not be the prettiest one of this list — not by a long shot — but it was hand-drawn by Rowling herself. She really let her creativity run wild while drawing this. Of course, there are prettier versions of this map out there, but this one holds a special place because it is the original.

I don’t need to tell you how popular Hogwarts is. From the books to movies and the studio tour, people just can’t get enough of it, and it starts with a map.
