When does Amazon’s The Lord of the Rings show premiere?
Amazon is spending a ridiculous amount of money on its upcoming?Lord of the Rings?show. Unfortunately, we won’t see the fruits of the studio’s labors for a while, as the company announced today that the show will premiere on September 2, 2022.
Then again, considering how big Amazon is swinging with this show, we can’t expect it to come out lickety-split. There’s a huge cast, a ton of lore, and all that money; waiting just over a year isn’t that bad, particularly when Amazon has other high fantasy treats to throw at us, such as its?The Wheel of Time?series.
The Lord of the Rings?show will come at the end of a very long year for fantasy.?The Wheel of Time?we already mentioned. 2022 will also see the debut of HBO’s?House of the Dragon, a spinoff of?Game of Thrones. Will we be fantasy-ed out by the time we get to?The Lord of the Rings?
The Lord of the Rings?TV release date
As for what Amazon’s show is about, it’s set during the Second Age of Middle-earth, thousands of years before Frodo, Aragorn, or most of the other characters we know from Peter Jackson’s movies are around. Sauron is still there, though, although he may look different from how you remember; in this time, he could still taking pleasing forms, so he’s less “Dark Lord” and more smooth-talking tempter.
