Why Ewan McGregor needs to be in Star Wars: Ahsoka

Ewan McGregor played a young Obi-Wan Kenobi in the?Star Wars?prequel movies and later returned to the role in his own spinoff show,?Kenobi.?With a new?Star Wars?show,?Ahsoka,?coming out on Disney+ in August, I only have one request to make of the showrunners: please include McGregor in the series.

It would make a lot of sense for Obi-Wan to pop up in this show. For starters, Obi-Wan and Ahsoka Tano have a history. Ahsoka was first introduced on the animated series Star War: The Clone Wars?as a Jedi padawan studying under Anakin Skywalker, back before he was Darth Vader. And Anakin was studying under Obi-Wan. Even though Ahsoka and Obi-Wan didn’t have as much interaction as Ahsoka and Anakin did, they still fought alongside each other and shared a mutual respect. It would be fascinating to see how their dynamic has changed since the last time they saw each other.

Ahsoka and Obi-Wan had some memorable scenes together in The Clone Wars.?They teamed up to stop an assassination attempt and fought side by side against the Separatists. I loved seeing them work together.

Things took a turn for the worse when Ahsoka left the Jedi Order after being accused of a crime she didn’t commit. While Obi-Wan wasn’t directly involved in this situation, he expressed regret over what had happened. It showed that even the wisest and most respected Jedi could make mistakes.

Obi-Wan Kenobi is dead, but he should still appear on?Star Wars: Ahsoka

Now fast forward to Star Wars Rebels, which is set while the Empire is at the height of its power when Obi-Wan is in hiding. At one point Ahsoka and Obi-Wan have a brief conversation via hologram and I nearly jumped out of my seat with excitement! Ahsoka was seeking information about Anakin. Obi-Wan cautioned her against pursuing this path, revealed that Anakin had become Darth Vader. The fact that Obi-Wan was able to deliver that bombshell while still remaining calm and collected just further proves what a legendary Jedi he is. Teach me your ways, Obi-Wan.

As for?Ahsoka, the new show takes place after the fall of the Empire, around the same time as?The Mandalorian. That means Obi-Wan has been dead for years; recall that he died in the very first?Star Wars?movie,?A New Hope.

But that doesn’t mean the two can’t reunite. For instance, Obi-Wan could appear to Ahsoka as a Force ghost to offer her more advice. Or even better, we could see the pair of them in a flashback during the Clone Wars or fighting against the Empire. We’ve heard that Hayden Christensen will show up on?Ahsoka?as Anakin, and he’s long dead too. So why not Obi-Wan as well?

Having Obi-Wan in the show would be a treat for fans. Ewan McGregor’s portrayal of Obi-Wan in the prequel trilogy has become iconic. I can only hope that these two Jedi legends cross paths again and that we get to see more of Ewan McGregor as Obi-Wan Kenobi.
