Cast roundup: Lancel dances in the streets, a hiccup in Emilia Clarke’s film career, and more

Filming for Game of Thrones Season 6 is just getting into full swing, but not all the cast members are ready to start shooting their scenes just yet. They’re still making time for fun, family, and side projects all over the world.

First up, Eugene Michael Simon (Lancel Lannister) posted this amusing pic of himself dancing in the streets of what appears to be Edinburgh, Scotland in honor of Thrones! The Musical (not to be confused with the other, more fake Game of Thrones musical Coldplay put together for NBC’s Red Nose Day). I’m not sure whether Simon arranged for this to happen or if he just stumbled on a banner and saw an opportunity for a good photo op, but context would just dilute the delight, anyway.

Incidentally, Simon has a fairly amusing Twitter feed in which he makes abundant references to Game of Thrones. Just something to consider.

Next, MTV posted a new clip from the upcoming Maze Runner sequel featuring Aiden “Littlefinger” Gillen. In this clilp, Gillen is menacing and creepy while talking to Thomas, the series’ protagonist. It’s good to see he hasn’t been typecast, then.

Also, check out these lovely promotional images of the BBC’s adaptation of D.H. Lawrence’s Lady Chatterley’s Lover, featuring Game of Thrones Richard Madden as the lover. Specifically, Madden will play Oliver Mellors, the “brooding, lonely gamekeeper” with whom the aristocratic Constance Chatterley falls in love after a war injury leaves her husband impotent. Scandal, as it so often does in these situations, ensues.

Moving along, Dish Nation purports to have an update on Emilia Clarke’s film career, although we can’t attest as to its reliability. According to an unnamed source, executives at Paramount are blaming Clarke’s performance for the wretched reviews of Terminator: Genisys, as well as for its underwhelming box office performance (the film did okay worldwide, but flopped domestically). “Of course it’s not all her fault, but they basically don’t want her back,” the source said. “They’re saying she doesn’t have the star power they thought she did.” If this is true, don’t expect Clarke to come back for Terminator: Exodus, or whatever they end up calling the sequel. If it’s not true, just carry on.
