Quick Hits: Filming Season Three
- Gary Lightbody, lead singer of the band Snow Patrol, filmed a small cameo today for Game of Thrones, according to the band’s Facebook page and shared a photo of him in costume. Lightbody, a Belfast resident and fan of the show, posted about his part, “So I did my scene this morning for Game Of Thrones. I looked like this. Can’t say much just it’s no pivotal role. Fun!”
- Several photos of the Quoile set in Northern Ireland popped up yesterday, provided by Wyvernwood. The riverside dock appears to be part of Riverrun, the seat of House Tully, based on the trout sigil on the pilings of the jetty.
- An article in a Croatian publication has caused a bit of a stir, revealing that the government has not yet paid the incentive to HBO that is required to film there as planned for season 3. It seems the lack of payment was due to an oversight, the funds not set aside as planned. If the funds aren’t provided, HBO may pull out of filming there. Representatives of the Croatian government have indicated they very much want Game of Thrones to continue filming in the country. Hopefully the situation will be resolved quickly. UPDATE: Looks like a deal has been worked out to solve the financial incentive issue, and the filming in Croatia will go ahead for season 3 as planned.
Ours is the Fury: I think the issue with the funds in Croatia will be taken care of. Dubrovnik was such a huge part of season 2, it would be a shame to lose its beauty in season 3.
