as Catelyn Stark
Character Overview: Catelyn Tully Stark is Hoster Tully’s eldest child. She is the wife of Eddard Stark of Winterfell and mother of their five children, Robb, Sansa, Arya, Bran, and Rickon. Catelyn is honorable and upright, holding duty over desire as a governing principle of behavior. She has a deep love for family and a strong faith in the Seven. –Wikipedia
Season One: Catelyn endeavors to find out who pushed her son Bran off the top of a tower at Winterfell, and who subsequently set an assassin on him to ensure that he would die. She arrests Tyrion Lannister for this crime, taking him to her sisters Lysa Arryn not only for being the owner of the dagger that nearly assassinated Bran, but also for the crime of killing former Hand of the King Jon Arryn, whose position Catelyn’s husband Ned has taken. After the trial, where Tyrion is judged innocent, Catelyn aids her son in leading a rebellion against the Lannisters for the perceived wrongful beheading of Ned Stark.
Season Two: Catelyn’s primary concern is the safety of her daughters, Arya and Sansa, whom Catelyn believes are still held captive in King’s Landing. (In reality, while Sansa is indeed a captive of the Lannisters, Arya hasn’t been seen since the beheading.) To facilitate their safe return, she frees Jaime Lannister, who was taken captive at a battle in the Whispering Wood, and sends him back to the capitol with Brienne of Tarth, who swears fealty to her as a knight after the unfortunate assassination of Renly Baratheon throws them together.
Season Three: Catelyn cautions against Robb’s rash decisions in war and love, but is unable to prevent him from marrying a field nurse, Talisa, whom he fell in love with. The Starks must make amends for breaking a promise with Walder Frey for crossing the Twins by arranging a new marriage between Catelyn’s brother Edmure Tully and a Frey daughter. At the wedding, which earns the gruesome name “The Red Wedding”, the Freys and Boltons, both under an allegiance with the Lannisters, murder the Stark camp, including Robb, Talisa, and Catelyn.
