John Oliver gives Game of Thrones a shout-out in his new set

Former Daily Show correspondent John Oliver’s Last Week Tonight debuted on April 27th, complete with a set featuring notable buildings from around the world such as the Washington Monument and Burj Khalifa. As The Huffington Post notes, however, there is one addition among the lot that is not quite of this world.

Just over the host’s right shoulder is a castle that should look familiar to Game of Thrones fans: Dragonstone, home to Stannis Baratheon and ancestral seat of the Targaryens.

The shout-out to Game of Thrones is not that surprising, considering Last Week Tonight airs Sunday nights at 11PM on HBO. Oliver may or may not be a viewer of GoT. When visiting The Daily Show to promote his new gig, he and Jon Stewart joked about GoT’s racier elements. Stewart observed that his new network HBO was “a wonderland of expletives and a forest of dongs,” and Oliver replied, “You’ve seen Game of Thrones then.”
