Location scouting for Game of Thrones season 5 has begun
Game of Thrones is revving up for the filming of season 5, according to new reports from a Croatian publication. According to Dalmatia News, recently representatives from the show have been scouting locations in the towns of Imotski and Šibenik.
Dalmatia News confirms that production will be returning to Dubrovnik, the show’s base in the country, and that there may again be filming in Split and the nearby settlement of Žrnovnica, locations added last year for the Meereen storyline.
If the negotiations for filming in Imotski and Šibenik are successful, there are several possibilities as to what the new locations may be used for.
Imotski, a town near the border of Bosnia-Herzegovina, is best known as the home of a medieval fortress found near Blue Lake. It seems likely that production may be interested in the fortress, as it looks ideal for GoT.
The town of Šibenik, located on the Adriatic Sea, is a busier tourist center with more possibilities for filming. Šibenik has four fortresses, three on land and one on water, that would look right at home in the world of Game of Thrones. The streets of the town itself and the nearby Krka National Park offer additional possibilities.
Ours is the Fury: What do you think of these sites? Šibenik is a lovely town that could be used in a lot of ways, but the fortresses seem like the most likely option.
