Natalia Tena joins new science fiction drama
Osha’s going on a new adventure, the BBC has announced: joining the cast of BBC Worldwide’s newest project, The Refugees. The project is a sci-fi drama in which a small rural community deals with the impact of millions of refugees fleeing from the future. (So it sounds kind of like FOX’s Terra Nova, only with more overt political interests. “How do you kill a man with class conflict?“)
The project is the first collaboration between BBC Worldwide and a European broadcaster, the Spanish-language Atresmedia group, though the show will be in English. No other details about the project have been set, other than the creators (Ramón Campos, Gema R. Neira, Cristóbal Garrido and Adolfo Valor) and the Spanish channel on which it will air (Lasexta, naturally an Atresmedia holding). Nonetheless, given Spain’s demonstrated love of Game of Thrones, Tena’s role in the show is likely to generate some interest.
We’ve also already heard that Tena’s Osha and her ward, Rickon Stark, are sitting this season of Thrones out. Things may get more complicated in future seasons, though, if she returns to Thrones and Refugees continues.
