Nathalie Emmanuel says Missandei and Dany “Growing Closer” in Season 5
Nathalie Emmanuel is spilling a few beans about Game of Thrones Season 5, and her character Missandei’s growing relationship with Queen of Meereen and Mother of Dragons, Daenerys Stormborn.
E! Online caught up with the servant and translator of the Queen of the Andals and Khaleesi of the Great Grass Sea, and asked her if she could tell us any details for Season 5. She didn’t say much, but she did oblige with a few tidbits.
According to E!’s gossip column, when asked about how things are going in Meereen for Season 5: “she teased that Missandei and Daenerys will grow “closer” in season three (sic).”
“We see Daenerys being queen and what comes with that, so it’s not always smooth sailing but she’s got her confidante and friend Massandei (sic) to help her along the way.” Nathalie also revealed that she and Emilia are good friends together in real life and like to have “tea parties” together, on and off set. “We just hang out and drink tea—it’s very British,” she laughed.
With Jorah out of the picture, Dany looks like she’s ready to make all sorts of questionable life choices in Season 5. (Seriously, has anyone called the MSPCA on her treatment of her dragons? Meereen does have a Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, doesn’t it?) It’s good to know the show is providing her with someone to talk to and lean on in these difficult times. For those who don’t know, Missendei is on a 12 year old girl in the books, and not a peer to Dany in any way. One of the benefits of aging her up is that they are much believable as friends and confidantes.
As for how this plays out in Dany’s story, we’ll just have to wait to find out.
