“Game of Thrones: A Day in the Life” details revealed
Back before the new year, we reported there was a mysterious special on HBO’s scheduling boards for February 8th, though it was hard to discern what exactly the special was all about. And with the knowledge that the “half hour special” last year only ran 15 or so minutes, it was questionable how long this special would even run for.
Now it can be told. According to EW.com, the special, which does indeed run the full half hour: covers one day of season 5 production on three different Thrones sets in three different countries – Belfast, Northern Ireland; Dubrovnik, Croatia; Sevilla and Osuna, Spain.
More details below.
According to James Hibberd:
The special follows key crew members and promises to highlight “the epic sets, renowned cast and global scale of Thrones, as well as the more intimate and individual challenges of our subjects, giving the audience a new perspective on one of the most elaborate productions in television history.”
This is very exciting. Not only will we get to see footage from the upcoming Dornish contingent, which filmed in Sevilla, but also filming from Osuna, which doubled for Meereen, Croatia, which pulled double duty as both King’s Landing and Braavos and the sets up in Ireland, which we Game of Thrones tourist trackers get precious little footage from.
Which parts are you most interesting in seeing? We’ve already had a bit of backstage footage from Dorne via CANAL+, and some amazing spoilery pictures from the Osuna bullring. Plus we’ve seen images of some filming in Croatia, including Tyrion, Arya, Littlefinger and Cersei.
But Ireland? Ireland is a mystery. That’s what I can’t wait for.
