Game of Thrones Season 5 trailer hits 25 million views in 3 days
To say the excitement for the Season 5 trailer was building last week would be an understatement, as everyone, including us here at WiC counted the days until the IMAX release of the Season 5 trailer. (Face it, those Raven “sights” just weren’t cutting it either.)
But even with all the anticipation, these are impressive numbers. As you can see above, this screen shot (taken as of 12noon EST today), the trailer, which was released on Facebook at 5pm on Friday, has been viewed 17.8 million times in under 72 hours.
More after the jump….
Meanwhile the official YouTube for Season 5 only has 2.6 million views so far. But that’s partly due to the show being slow to get it up, and it not being under the “Game of Thrones” YouTube channel that we’re all used to. Still, added together that takes us to 20.4 million official views in 67 hours.
The number jumps again if you add in David Dutton’s remarkably clear cellphone footage of the trailer taken at the initial Thursday night IMAX screening. Most sites (including this one) used this video as the “official” video on Friday morning, and it had racked up a good 5.6 million hits over the course of Friday until HBO finally got it’s act together at 5pm. Add these numbers to the tally and the trailer has had over 25 million hits in just over 72 hours.
